LYPA to honor Rising Stars at Sept. 25 awards dinner

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 14, 2012) — The Lexington Young Professionals Association (LYPA) will honor young professionals who are emerging leaders in the community Sept. 25 at its Rising Stars awards dinner.

The Rising Stars program is designed to honor young professionals who are involved in career and philanthropic endeavors. LYPA accepts nominations from community members, and honorees are selected by a diverse panel of community business leaders.

WTVQ news anchor Lauren Gawthrop will serve as emcee for the event, which begins at 7 p.m. at Malone’s Banquet Hall. The guest speaker is Diane Banasiak, a Lexington business owner and philosophy instructor at Eastern Kentucky University.

As a life coach and motivational speaker, Banasiak attempts to “inspire individuals and groups to identify obstacles to their success and to find ways to work around those obstacles,” she said. “I help clients to deepen the action and to forward the learning.”

The evening also will be a “night of great friends, food, networking, and of course, recognition,” said LYPA President Brittney Edwards.

Tickets to the Rising Stars dinner can be purchased here.

The Lexington Young Professionals Association was formed in 2000 by eight young professionals who wanted to place an emphasis on personal, civic and professional development for people between the ages of 21 to 40. Its goals are to improve networking opportunities; retain young talent in Lexington; establish an economic voice for Lexington’s young professionals; create a more diversified base of social activities; and provide philanthropic opportunities for members.

“Our organization is for anyone looking to meet new people, make professional contacts, volunteer with local charities and find a variety of events that meet their interests,” Edwards said. “Our goal is to provide a diverse program of events and opportunities throughout the year that enrich the lives of young professionals and focus on their professional, civic and personal development.”
