Fixed-based operator TAC Air is set to break ground this fall on a new 11,500-s.f. terminal at Lexington’s Blue Grass Airport.

Fixed-based operator TAC Air plans to break ground this fall on a new executive terminal at Blue Grass Airport in Lexington that will include an expanded passenger lobby, two conference rooms, movie theater, exercise room, pilot lounge, quiet room, flight planning area and a gift store featuring an art gallery.

In addition to the new 11,500-s.f. terminal, construction will also begin on 45,000 s.f. of new hangar space. The improvements are expected to be completed within one year, ensuring that they are finished before the World Equestrian Games in 2010.

TAC Air also has reached a definitive agreement to purchase the assets and facilities of Air51, a fixed-based operator that opened a facility at Blue Grass Airport in 2008. As part of the purchase, TAC Air has assumed Air51’s sponsorship of the World Equestrian Games. Current plans call for the combined operations to service customers from the existing TAC Air executive terminal while the new executive terminal is under construction.
