FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 12, 2012) – The Kentucky Public Service Commission (PSC) will announce its decision in the area code 270 relief case at 11 a.m. EST (10 a.m. CST) on Monday, Dec. 17.
The PSC conducted meetings to discuss the options and process for the creation of a new area code in all or a portion of the current area code 270, which covers Western Kentucky.
The PSC order and related news release will be available Monday on the PSC website, psc.ky.gov. It is case 2012-00129.
The PSC is considering whether to address the need for a new area code by overlaying area code 364 over the existing area code 270 territory or by splitting area code 270 and designating a portion as area code 364.
