Boardwalk Pipeline Partners provides transportation, storage and processing of natural gas and liquids, and operates more than 14,000 miles of pipelines and underground storage caverns. In addition to its Owensboro headquarters, where it employs approximately 200 people, Boardwalk Pipeline Partners also has a headquarters facility in Houston. Its current market value, according to Forbes, is $5.74 billion.

In 2012, Boardwalk’s systems carried approximately 12 percent of the nation’s average daily consumption of natural gas.

To qualify for the Forbes list, companies must have consistently demonstrated transparent and conservative accounting practices and solid corporate government and management. They also had to have market caps of $250 million or more as of March 13, 2012.

The top 100 companies were selected from a field of more than 8,000 companies traded on the U.S. exchanges.

The evaluation penalized companies for unusual or excessive executive compensation, high levels of management turnover, substantial insider trading relative to corporate peers or high levels of short-term executive compensation.

The 100 Most Trustworthy Companies have consistently demonstrated transparent and conservative accounting practices and solid corporate governance and management, Forbes said. They do not play games with revenue and expense recognition, or with asset valuation.
