Joel G. Stone named president of Louisville Ballet Board

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 22, 2013) — The Louisville Ballet is pleased to announce the appointment of Joel G. Stone as its new board president, taking over for Marcia Guida James, who served from 2011-2013. Stone joined the Board in 2012.

A Louisville native, Stone recently relocated from Cincinnati to serve as director of private banking for Fifth Third Bank’s Kentucky affiliate in Louisville. In addition to his service for the Louisville Ballet, he also is a board member of Louisville Metro United Way, vice president of the CSR Academy School Board and is a participant in the 2014 Fund for the Arts NeXt! Program.

“We are thrilled to have Joel bring his unique leadership skills to the position as president of our board. His immediate energy coupled with his passion for the Louisville Ballet is infectious,” said Bruce Simpson, Louisville Ballet Artistic Director. “He has hit the ground running and I’m excited to partner with him as we explore new initiatives to move the Louisville Ballet into the future.”

Prior to returning to Louisville, Stone was active in both the arts and youth development communities in Cincinnati, serving as vice chair of the Dan Beard Council’s Professional Leadership Network, treasurer of goVibrant and as an active member of the ArtsWaves Friends for the Arts Committee, Cincinnati Youth Collaborative, Mercy Young Leaders and the Cincinnati Learning Center for Children.
