Governor makes appointments to boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Sept. 20, 2013) – Gov. Steve Beshear has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Carol Wilding Hebel to the Board of Directors for the Kentucky Racing Health and Welfare Fund Inc. to serve for a term expiring Sept. 8, 2014, or until her respective successor is selected and qualified.

Carol Wilding Hebel, of Louisville, is a real-estate agent.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Commission on Human Rights to serve for terms expiring Sept. 12, 2016:

on the boardsCarol L. Jackson, of Ashland, is retired. She represents the 7th Supreme Court District. The appointment replaces Vella Ann Newman, whose term has expired.

Sandra D. Moore, of Richmond, is associate provost for diversity at Eastern Kentucky University. She represents the state at large. The appointment replaces Sandra A. Powell, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the board to serve for terms expiring Sept. 12, 2016:

Robert C. Asseo, of Florence, is a field service manager at Delta Airlines Inc. He represents the 6th Supreme Court District.

Henry J. Curtis, of Frankfort, is a retired attorney. He represents the 5th Supreme Court District.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Kentucky Water Well Certification Board to serve for terms expiring Aug. 16, 2016:

Danny R. Kelly, of Clinton, is a self-employed water well driller. He represents rotary tool drilling method.

Orris Edward Hayes, of Betsy Layne, is a self-employed drilling contractor at Hayes Inc. He represents cable tool drilling method.

Roy H. Toney, of Lawrenceburg, is retired from the U. S. Department of Agriculture. He represents the public at large.

Oscar Barton Davidson, of Richmond, is a hydrogeologist for the Kentucky Geological Survey. He represents hydrogeologists or hydrologists from the Kentucky Geological Survey.

Kevin R. Moses, of Gray, is owner, manager and an agent at Moses Drilling Company LLC. He represents cable tool and rotary tool drilling method.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Kentucky Geological Survey Advisory Board to serve for terms expiring Sept. 1, 2016:

Gregory A. Yankey, of Salvisa, is an engineer at Stantec.

Ron D. Gilkerson, of Nicholasville, is an engineer at GRW Engineers Inc.

Mark B. Mangun, of Frankfort, is a self-employed consulting geologist.

Stephen B. Sullivan, of Louisville, is an executive and geologist at The Corradino Group Inc.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Karen K. Lawrence to the Kentucky Film Commission to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Sept. 30, 2016.

Karen K. Lawrence, of Louisville, is owner of Camp HiHo. The appointment replaces Robert H. Stewart, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the commission to serve for terms expiring Sept. 30, 2017:

John G. Holland, of Louisville, is a self-employed film producer.

Dorian Walker, of Bowling Green, is a filmmaker at Peridot Pictures.

Nina W. Clooney, of Augusta, is a self-employed agent for Nick Clooney.

Gov. Beshear has designated Merry-Kay Poe as chair of the commission.  Merry-Kay Poe, of Louisville, is a self-employed feature film developer.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Motorcycle Advisory Commission for Highway Safety to serve for terms expiring June 30, 2017:

William H. McKinney, of Frankfort, is s transportation engineer specialist at the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet. He represents Transportation Office of Project Development.

David Webster, of Glencoe. He represents the Kentucky Motorcycle Association.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Camille Skubik-Peplaski to the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Occupational Therapy to serve for a term expiring Oct. 15, 2016.

Camille Skubik-Peplaski, of Lexington, is an occupational therapist and associate professor at Eastern Kentucky University. She represents licensed occupational therapists. The reappointment is effective Oct. 16, 2013.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Education Commission of the States to serve at the pleasure of the Governor.

W. Blake Haselton, of LaGrange, is dean of the College of Education at the University of Louisville. The appointment replaces Bonnie L. Freeman.

Verna J. Lowe, of Nicholasville, is dean of the College of Education at Eastern Kentucky University. The appointment replaces William L. Phillips.

Rep. Derrick W. Graham, of Frankfort. The appointment replaces Carl P. Rollins.

Sen. Mike Wilson, of Bowling Green. The appointment replaces Ken Winters.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Consumers’ Advisory Council:

Sandra B. Gardner, of Glasgow, is a retired technology integration specialist for the Glasgow Board of Education. The appointment replaces Vivian G. McNatton, whose term has expired. Gardner shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 8, 2014.

Daniel L. Modlin, of Bowling Green, is a songwriter and retired radio news director. The appointment replaces Joe Friend, whose term has expired. Modlin shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 8, 2014.

Robert S. Jones, of Versailles, is executive director of Community Action Kentucky. The appointment replaces Sheila Stanton, whose term has expired. Jones shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 8, 2015.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the council to serve for terms expiring Sept. 8, 2016:

Marsha F. Williams, of Lexington.

Audrey S. Wall, of Midway, is managing editor of the Council of State Governments.

Jonathan M. Cantrell, of Georgetown, is chief operating officer and a financial consultant at CCCS of the Midwest Inc.

William H. Harned, of Shepherdsville, is retired.

Dora N. Price, of Staffordsville, is a government liaison for Military Affairs and Emergency Management.

Maurice A. Byrne, of Louisville, is an attorney.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Juvenile Justice Advisory Board:

Preston Elrod, of Lexington, is a professor at Eastern Kentucky University. He represents local juvenile delinquency prevention councils. The appointment replaces Ann Ferriell, whose term has expired. Elrod shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 15, 2017.

Christopher Lee Caudill, of Ashland, is a student. The appointment replaces Amanda R. Jewell, whose term has expired. Caudill shall serve for a term expiring Sept. 15, 2017.

Glenda M. Edwards, of Greensburg, is an attorney at the Department of Public Advocacy. She represents the Department of Public advocacy. The appointment replaces La Mer Kyle-Griffiths, who has resigned. Edwards shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Sept. 15, 2016.

Antonie Boylston, of Lexington, is a student. He represents youth under the age of 24. The appointment replaces Elizabeth L. Sames, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the board to serve for terms expiring Sept. 15, 2017:

Elizabeth “Libby” Taylor, of Lawrenceburg, is a safe school program consultant for the Kentucky Department of Education. She represents employees of the Kentucky Department of Education.

Cathy E. Prewitt, of Corbin, is a district judge. She represents the District Judges Association.

Marty Lanus, of Shelbyville, is a self-employed public relations specialist. He represents parents.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Eric J. Rose to the Northern Kentucky Convention Center Corp. Board of Directors to serve for a term expiring July 14, 2017.

Eric J. Rose, of Newport, is an administrator for Herschend Family Entertainment – Newport Aquarium.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Alvis Johnson t o the Kentucky Sports Authority to serve for a term expiring Jan. 4, 2017.

Alvis Johnson, of Harrodsburg, is an athletic administrator, business owner and coach. He represents members at large. The appointment replaces Larry D. Gay, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Madonna “Donna” Jean Fechter as a member of the Waste Tire Working Group,  to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Aug. 1, 2014.

Donna Jean Fechter, of Danville, is director of operations for the Boyle County Fiscal Court Solid Waste Management, and represents Solid Waste Coordinators of Kentucky. The appointment replaces Mary F. Dickey, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Julie A. Riesenweber as a member of the Kentucky Historic Preservation Review Board, to serve for a term expiring July 15, 2017.

Julie A. Riesenweber, of Lexington, is on the faculty of the University of Kentucky College of Design. She represents architectural historians. The appointment replaces Patrick A Snadon, whose term has expired.
 
Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Kentucky Historic Preservation Review Board to serve for terms expiring July 15, 2016:

Karl B. Raitz, of Lexington, is a professor at the University of Kentucky. He represents geographers.

Natalie G. Wilkerson, of Frankfort, is a self-employed historic preservation consultant. She represents citizens at large.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Bluegrass State Skills Corp. board of directors to serve for terms expiring July 5, 2017:

Tom Lund, of Lebanon, is the director of Marion County Economic Development.

Eston W. Glover Jr., of Elkton, is president and CEO at Pennyrile Rural Electric.

Randall D. Fox, of Benton, is senior partner at Capstone HR Services Inc. Fox shall serve as chair of the board.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following as members of the Reclamation Guaranty Fund Commission:

William L. Adams, of Frankfort, is president and CEO of Cumberland Surety Inc. and represents persons with a background in insurance and banking industries with knowledge of the coal industry.  Adams shall serve for a term expiring July 1, 2015.

Sharon P. Warriner, of Barbourville, represents certified public accountants and is a CPA and managing member with Evans Warriner & Co. PLLC. She shall serve for a term expiring July 1, 2016.

Chester M. Thomas, of Hanson, is a coal operator with Green River Collieries LLC. He represents persons with a background in insurance and banking industries with knowledge of the coal industry, and shall serve for a term expiring July 1, 2017.
