NKU President James Votruba to make final scheduled presentation to KY legislature this morning

Votruba will discuss education’s role in economic development in the commonwealth

HIGHLAND HEIGHTS, Ky. (Feb. 28, 2012) –
Northern Kentucky University President James Votruba will make his final scheduled presentation to the Kentucky legislature today when he appears before the Senate Committee on Appropriations and Revenue at 9 a.m. in Room 149 of the Capitol Annex in Frankfort to discuss education’s roll in economic development in the state.

Dr. Votruba’s remarks will focus on Northern Kentucky and NKU being at a “tipping point” for talent and economic growth. He will share that the Northern Kentucky region has been a large contributor of revenue to the commonwealth, but will note that without state investment in the talent-building capacity in the Northern Kentucky region, and without incentives to entice angel investors, Kentucky’s 120 counties could see significant reduction in revenue to support needs throughout the state.
