CPE to sponsor college-going conference at Murray State for diverse students

saHPICONFRANKFORT, Ky. (June 10, 2014) — The Council on Postsecondary Education will sponsor the 27th Annual Academically Proficient High School Junior and Senior Diversity Conference June 13-14 on the campus of Murray State University.

The education conference will acquaint students of diverse backgrounds, and their families, with a wide range of college planning topics, including financial aid and scholarships, selecting a college and career, and developing skills for successful transition to college.

Featured speakers include Dr. Bob Belle, associate director of the Southern Regional Education Board-State Doctoral Scholars Program and Alliance for Graduate Education & the Professoriate Program. Belle is well-known for his work as an advocate to increase the number of diverse students who earn doctoral degrees in the science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) disciplines.

A showcase of Murray State’s academic programs, as well as a college fair with campus representatives from across the commonwealth, will follow the sessions.
