LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Aug. 4, 2014) — The start of another school year is just around the corner and once again councilman David James (D-6) is teaming up with the First Gethsemane Center for Family Development to sponsor the 2014 Health Fair and Back to School Supplies Giveaway for needy families in the community.

The 19th Annual Health Fair and Back to School Supplies Giveaway is set for Saturday, Aug. 9t at the 1st Gethsemane Center, 1159 Algonquin Parkway from noon to 3 p.m. The Health Fair will be held in the Church’s gym.

The American Red Cross will conduct a mobile blood drive during the event.

Every year, the Back to School Supplies Giveaway has helped with the needs of children and organizers believe this year will be no different. In 2013, the giveaway was able to help with the needs of 5,322 children. Organizers expect there will just as many children in need this year. The supplies will be given out on a first come first serve basis.

Parents must be with their children in order to participate in both events.
