FRANKFORT: Governor Beshear makes appointments to Boards and Commissions

 

FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 6, 2012) – Governor Steve Beshear has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions: 
Gov. Beshear has appointed Karl B. Raitz as State Geographer for the Commonwealth of Kentucky to serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2013. 
  • ·        Karl B. Raitz, of Lexington, is a professor at the University of Kentucky. The appointment replaces Donald M. Yow, whose term has expired.

 Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Reading Diagnostic and Intervention Grant Steering Committee to serve for terms expiring May 16, 2014: 

  • ·        Johnna Puttoff, of Frankfort, is a reading professor at Kentucky State University. She represents university professors with expertise in reading and literacy. The appointment replaces Margaret B. Davis, whose term has expired.

 

  • ·        Sharon Darling, of Louisville, is president of the National Center for Family Literacy. She represents the state at large. The appointment replaces Diane B. Hatfield, whose term has expired.

 Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the committee to serve for terms expiring May 16, 2014: 

  • ·        Sharla Six, of Frankfort, is the principal at Collins Lane Elementary. She represents elementary school principals.

 

  • ·        LenaKay Etherton Wilson, of Richmond, is an elementary school teacher. She represents primary teachers with expertise in reading and literacy.

 Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Advisory Council for Gifted and Talented Education: 

  • ·        Kimberely F. Nettleton, of Morehead, is an instructor at Morehead State University. She represents postsecondary education institutions. The appointment replaces Ashok Kumar, whose term has expired. Nettleton shall serve for a term expiring Dec. 15, 2014.

 

  • ·        Pamela S. Geisselhardt, of Columbia, is an elementary school teacher at Colonel William Casey Elementary School. She represents teachers. The appointment replaces Merry L. Berry, whose term has expired. Geisselhardt shall serve for a term expiring Dec. 15, 2014.

 

  • ·        Jan Lanham, of Gravel Switch, is the principal at Cox’s Creek Elementary School. She represents parents. The appointment replaces J. Maynard Thomas, whose term has expired. Lanham shall serve for a term expiring Dec. 15, 2014.

 

  • ·        Robin Thacker, of Henderson, is the principal at Union County High School. She represents principals. The appointment replaces Kimberly S. Marshall, who has resigned. Thacker shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Dec. 15, 2013.

 Gov. Beshear has appointed Joseph R. Miller to the Kentucky Board of Architects to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending July 1, 2013. 

  • ·        Joseph R. Miller, of Madisonville, is vice president of strategic planning and marketing at Trover Health System. He represents citizens at large. The appointment replaces Bernard Anthony Goetz, who has resigned.

 Gov. Beshear has appointed Kathleen J. Milans to the Kentucky Board Certification of Fee-Based Pastoral Counselors to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Sept. 22, 2013. 

  • ·        Kathleen J. Milans, of Wilmore, is a pastoral counselor at Path of Life Ministry. She represents pastoral counselors. The appointment replaces Joan L. Clagett, who has resigned.

 Gov. Beshear has appointed Charles Ronald Lovan to the Ohio River Valley Water Sanitation Commission to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 7, 2012. 

  • ·        Charles Ronald Lovan, of Union, is president and CEO of Northern Kentucky Water District. The appointment replaces Jeffery A. Eger.

 Gov. Beshear has designated Sandy Gruzesky as the Lieutenant Governor’s alternate to the Commission to serve at the pleasure of the Lieutenant Governor. 

  • ·        Sandy Gruzesky, of Frankfort, is assistant director of the Energy and Environment Cabinet Division of Water for the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

 Gov. Beshear has appointed John N. Smith to the Animal Control Advisory Board to serve for a term expiring Feb. 26, 2016. 

  • ·        John N. Smith, of Albany, is mayor of the City of Albany. He represents the Kentucky League of Cities. The appointment replaces Jennifer F. Nagle, whose term has expired.

 Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the board to serve for terms expiring Feb. 26, 2016: 

  • ·        Linda K. Grimes, of Irvine, is a self-employed veterinarian. She represents the Kentucky Veterinary Medical Association.

 

  • ·        Danny Wilkinson, of Columbia, is a self employed farmer. He represents the Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation.

 Gov. Beshear has appointed Alma Louise Randolph to the Child Labor Committee to serve at the pleasure of the Governor. 

  • ·        Alma Louise Randolph, of Owensboro, is a human resource and community relations specialist for the City of Owensboro. She represents the Kentucky Commission on Human Rights. The appointment replaces Cynthia B. Fox.

 Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Martin Luther King Jr. State Commission to serve for terms expiring Dec. 12, 2015: 

  • ·        Kerry Holleran, of Covington, is an attorney for the Department of Public Advocacy. The appointment replaces Vella A. Newman, whose term has expired.

 

  • ·        Natasha LaDawn Murray, of Lexington, is an education program consultant for the Department of Education and first vice president for the National Council on Educating Black Children. The appointment replaces Sherwood Thompson, whose term has expired.

 Gov. Beshear has reappointed Lawrence L. Winburn to the commission to serve for a term expiring Dec. 12, 2015. 

  • ·        Lawrence L. Winburn, of Louisville, is a union organizer for Laborers Local 576.

 Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Kentucky Multidisciplinary Commission on Child Sexual Abuse to serve at the pleasure of the Governor 

  • ·        Lisa J. Pfitzer, of Louisville, is a medical director at the Family and Children First Child Advocacy Center and an associate professor at the University of Louisville, Department of Pediatrics. Pfitzer shall serve as the physician’s representative.

 

  • ·        Vickie Henderson, of California, Ky. is director of the Northern Kentucky Children’s Advocacy Center of St. Luke’s Hospital. Henderson shall serve as the children’s advocacy center representative.

 Gov. Beshear has reappointed George O. Purvis to the Kentucky Board of Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology to serve for a term expiring March 6, 2015. 

  • ·        George O. Purvis, of LaGrange, is chief of the Audiology and Speech Pathology Service at the VA Medical Center in Louisville and chief of Audiology at Ireland Army Community Hospital at Fort Knox.  He represents audiologists.

 Gov. Beshear has appointed Keith A. Landry to the Water Transportation Advisory Board to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Sept. 30, 2014. 

  • ·        Keith A. Landry, of Louisville, is director of federal business development at Walbridge. He represents members at large. The appointment replaces Kenny Lanham, who has resigned.

 Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to a pool to serve on the Finance and Administration Cabinet Architectural Services Selection Committee: 

  • ·        Hugh H. Bennett, of Lexington, is an architect at Bennett Architects Inc.

 

  • ·        Elizabeth M. Atinay, of Lexington, is a retired architect.

 

  • ·        Byron F. Romanowitz, of Lexington, is a retired architect.

 Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Local Correctional Facilities Construction Authority to serve for terms expiring Aug. 1, 2015: 

  • ·        Paul D. Fackler, of Shepherdsville, is a retired jailer. He represents citizens. The appointment replaces James O. Dyer, whose term has expired.

 

  • ·        Cole Adams Maier, of Bowling Green, is a law clerk for Chief Justice John D. Minton Jr. of the Kentucky Supreme Court. She represents citizens. The appointment replaces Edward Parsley, whose term has expired.

 

  • ·        John Schickel, of Union, is a Kentucky State Senator representing the 11th.District. He represents the Kentucky General Assembly. The appointment replaces Robert Stivers, whose term has expired.

 Gov. Beshear has reappointed Arnold Simpson to the authority to serve for a term expiring Aug. 1, 2015. 

  • ·        Arnold Simpson, of Covington, is a Kentucky State Representative representing the 65th District. He represents the Kentucky General Assembly.

 Gov. Beshear has reappointed Sheila S. Levy to the Kentucky Assistive Technology Loan Corporation Board of Directors to serve for a term expiring Feb. 25, 2016. 

  • ·        Sheila S. Levy, of Louisville, is an attorney. She represents attorneys with lending experience.

 Gov. Beshear has appointed Kathy K. Burr to the Board of Nursing to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2015. 

  • ·        Kathy K. Burr, of Adairville, is a licensed practical nurse. She represents the Kentucky Association of Licensed Practical Nurses. The appointment replaces Jamie D. Daniel, whose term has expired.

 Gov. Beshear has appointed Bruce E. Kunze to the Kentucky Grape and Wine Council to serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2016. 

  • ·        Bruce E. Kunze, of Utica, is a former county commissioner and retired educator. He represents grape producers. The appointment replaces James W. Bravard, whose term has expired.

 Gov. Beshear has reappointed Dennis C. Walter to the council to serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2016. 

  • ·        Dennis C. Walter, of Melbourne, is a self employed farmer. He represents winery operators.

 Gov. Beshear has reappointed James David Fiepke to the Kentucky Motor Carrier Advisory Committee to serve for a term expiring March 25, 2015. 

  • ·        James David Fiepke, of Elizabethtown, is president of the Kentucky Motor Transport Association. The appointment replaces Michael R. Hall, whose term has expired.

 Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the committee to serve for terms expiring March 25, 2015: 

  • ·        Barry J. Cannon, of Caneyville, is a manager at Ryan Trucking.

 

  • ·        William A. Usher Jr., of Prospect, is the president at Usher Transport Inc.

 Gov. Beshear has reappointed Terri Byers-Abston to the Kentucky State Board of Chiropractic Examiners to serve for a term expiring March 29, 2015. 

  • ·        Terri Byers-Abston, of Louisville, is a self-employed chiropractor.

 Gov. Beshear has appointed Donald H. Devine to the Advisory Board for Veterans’ Affairs to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Sept. 25, 2013. 

  • ·        Donald H. Devine, of Radcliff, is a retired Army command sergeant major. He represents citizens at large. The appointment replaces John A. Sterner, who is deceased.
