PIKEVILLE, Ky. (Sept. 12, 2014) – The University of Pikeville was recently awarded a $2.2 million Title III Strengthening Institutions Program grant by the U.S. Department of Education to create a center for student success.

UPIKE President James Hurley said the grant would be used to create a center for student success with a centralized approach to advising, tracking and supporting first-year students.

“We are eager to expand the services we offer our students and provide personalized, individual attention to every first-year student,” Hurley said. “We will continue to enhance our campus-wide efforts to improve retention and persistence, and ultimately graduate more students.”

With more than 2,400 students, the fall 2014 semester marks the fifth consecutive record enrollment for the University of Pikeville, which was recently named one of the “fastest-growing colleges” in the nation by the Chronicle of Higher Education.
