Gateway receives grant to boost graduation rate

Grant is for $3.6 million over four years

FLORENCE, Ky. (Sept. 30, 2014) — Gateway Community and Technical College has been selected to receive a $3.6 million four-year grant to help improve graduation rates.

Gateway_Community_and_Technical_College3Gateway is one of 24 schools whose proposals were selected to receive the First in the World Program grants through the U.S. Department of Education Office of Postsecondary Education.

Gateway proposed to integrate evidence-based strategies that, within one streamlined framework, will seamlessly deliver three interventions to a target population of degree-seeking students who have at least one developmental need. Through its Flexible Learning and Exploration space (FLEXspace) project, Gateway will address the specific challenges that community colleges face related to access, engagement and completion of underprepared, underrepresented and low-income students.
