Kentuckians second in nation in time spent preparing holiday meals

Residents average 6.9 hours to prepare meals

turkeyLEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 19, 2014) — Kentuckians spend more time preparing holiday meals than residents of any state other than Mississippi, according to the Del Monte Holiday Meal Census, which asked 2,500 Americans to describe how long it takes them to prepare the typical holiday meal.

Kentuckians said they spend an average of 6.9 hours preparing holiday meals, second only to Mississippi residents, who said they spend 7.1 hours preparing meals.

Following Kentucky was Alabama (6.7 hours), Georgia, Texas and Virginia (6.5), Arkansas and Maryland (6.4), Maine and Wisconsin (6), New York and Pennsylvania (5.7), Colorado (5.6), Oklahoma, Florida and West Virginia (5.5), Indiana and Rhode Island (5.4), Arizona, Oregon and South Carolina (5.3), Michigan, New Jersey and North Carolina (5.2) and Missouri (5.1).
