Most uninsured Kentuckians aware of kynect, but few have sought more information

Kentucky Health Issues Poll released on Monday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Dec. 30, 2014) — Most Kentuckians are aware of kynect, but only a small percentage of the state’s uninsured adults have attempted to get information about the state’s online health insurance marketplace, according to the Kentucky Health Issues Poll released on Monday.

kynect_logo_4C_300While 70 percent of uninsured adults said they have heard about kynect, only 17 percent have sought more information about it and only 19 percent of adults living at or below 138 percent of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) reported seeking more information about kynect.

“The Kentucky Health Issues Poll (KHIP) provides a snapshot of Kentuckians’ views on various health-related topics,” said Susan Zepeda, president/CEO of the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky. “This independent source of data helps inform Kentucky leaders’ health policy decisions.”

Kentucky launched kynect on Oct. 1, 2013.  Since then, the state reports more than 521,000 Kentuckians have enrolled in health insurance coverage via kynect. Open enrollment in kynect is currently underway through Feb. 15, 2015.
