Event is in Frankfort
FRANKFORT, Ky. (April 23, 2015) — An induction ceremony for Kentucky’s new poet laureate, George Ella Lyon, will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday at the Capital Rotunda as part of Kentucky Writers’ Day celebration.
Past poets laureate Frank X Walker, Richard Taylor, Joe Survant, Sena Jeter Naslund, Gurney Norman and Maureen Morehead will give readings.
Also in attendance will be Gov. Steve Beshear, Lt. Gov. Crit Luallen, Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Bob Stewart, Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet Deputy Secretary Lindy Casebier and Kentucky Arts Council Executive Director Lori Meadows.
