Gateway free summer camps explore high-tech careers

For high school girls and all middle-school students

FLORENCE, Ky. (June 26, 2014) — Gateway Community and Technical College will host two hands-on career exploration camps this July for high school girls and middle school students. Both cames are free. Registration deadlines are July 1.

gaThe Engineering/Advanced Manufacturing Camp for high school girls will explore the high-tech and high-wage careers available in advanced manufacturing. Participants will rotate through hands-on activities as they work in teams to solve problems and learn the fundamentals of lean manufacturing. They will also take a tour of the Bosch Automotive Steering plant to see a high-tech facility up close. The camp is  from July 20-22. Participants also can attend the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce STEM Girls Day Out on July 23.

Participants will rotate through hands-on activities as they work in teams to solve problems and learn the fundamentals of lean, and how to apply then to logistics. They will also take a tour of the FedEx facility to see supply chain in action. The camp is from July 27-29.
