Will feature two battle re-enactments
MOUNT OLIVET, Ky. (July 28, 2015) — Blue Licks Battlefield State Resort Park will hold its annual Revolutionary War re-enactment of the 1782 Battle of Blue Licks along the Licking River from Aug. 15-16.
The battle featured Daniel Boone and other pioneers who went up against a larger contingent of British soldiers and Native Americans. Among the 70 pioneers who died was Boone’s youngest son, Israel.
The event, which will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. both days, will feature pioneer camps, entertainment, trail walks, historical programs and two battle re-enactments, at 3 p.m. on Aug. 15 and 1:30 p.m. on Aug. 16. Pioneer Museum will be open through the weekend.
Admission to this event is free. There are fees for mini golf and the swimming pool.
Food and craft vendors will be onsite. The resort is located 45 miles northeast of Lexington off historic Highway 68.
