Bowling Green Fire Department interim chief named

Hiring process expected to begin in next several months

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (July 28, 2015) — Effective Saturday, Brian O’Callaghan, assistant chief of Bowling Green Fire Department, will begin serving as interim fire chief for the City of Bowling Green. Chief Greg Johnson will retire on Friday.

fireO’Callaghan, who has 31 years of fire service, has been with the Bowling Green Fire Department for more than 18 years, serving as assistant chief of prevention for the past five years.

O’Callaghan has been married for 29 years with three children and two grandchildren.

“I am looking forward to working with the members of the Bowling Green Fire Department and City staff to ensure a smooth and seamless transition to the new Fire Chief and administration,” said O’Callaghan.

Over the next several months, City Manager Kevin DeFebbo will begin the hiring process for a full time chief.
