Louisville Innovation Summit bringing 500 industry leaders to focus on future of aging care

Louisville, Ky. – The Louisville Innovation Summit will gather 500 executives and entrepreneurs from around the country focused on the Future of Aging Care.

Held Oct. 14 – 15, the event will feature over 70 industry visionaries speaking on topics ranging from Aging Innovations in Space to Compassion as Innovation in Healthcare Delivery, as well as a startup pitch event of 15 companies all focused on innovative health technologies.

Louisville has become not only a center of aging care, but of compassionate healthcare for older people. The city has a Compassion Initiative spearheaded by Signature HealthCARE, a post-acute and long-term care company which includes one of the largest for-profit, multi-faith Departments of Spirituality in the nation, created by Timmering, along with Signature CEO Joe Steier. The speakers at this session will discuss the spiritual movement of hope in medicine as a core competency in the care delivery system.

The Louisville Innovation Summit is the industry’s only conference uniquely focused on wellness and aging care technology and innovation. This is the second such gathering of the largest collection of thought-leaders, innovators, entrepreneurs and CEOs in lifelong wellness to share ideas and chart the future of the industry.

With 21,000-plus professionals producing more than $50 billion in revenue, Louisville is home to the nation’s largest collection of headquarters in nursing home, rehabilitation, assisted living and home health administration. This large industry base makes Louisville the natural place to chart the future of the industry. Guided and supported by Louisville-based Founding Partners Delta Dental of Kentucky, Humana, Kindred, ResCare, Signature HealthCARE and Trilogy, the Louisville Innovation Summit promises to be an enlightening experience.

The Louisville Innovation Summit will feature a keynote address from Aneesh Chopra, the first Chief Technology Officer of the U.S. and assistant to President Obama who helped launch Startup America, among many other initiatives. Chopra is currently a leader at Hunch Analytics, a “hatchery” incubating ideas that improve the productivity of health and education markets. Chopra’s presentation will be a conversation with Dr. Jordan Shlain, primary care physician, digital health entrepreneur and respected writer and thought leader in national health policy.

Paul Bennett of IDEO will also give a keynote address on The Powerful Now. IDEO is a world renowned design and innovation firm dedicated to uncovering latent needs, behaviors and desires. Paul Bennett, as Chief Creative Officer, is at the helm of many of these new innovations. One such vision is The Powerful Now (http://thepowerfulnow.com/), a collaboration led by KyuSYPartners and IDEO, which is fueling the growing global movement around positive aging for all. The Powerful Now states “aging is being redefined. Not as a path of decline, but one of renewal.”
