Promotes support of locally-owned businesses
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 24, 2015) — While many people will head out Thursday night and Friday morning to fight the crowds for the best Black Friday deals, Kentuckians should remember that Nov. 28 is Small Business Saturday.
The annual event is an opportunity to support and promote local businesses. As part of the event small businesses throughout the region can register on the Small Business Saturday website. Shoppers can use the same website to look for small businesses in their area.
Small Business Saturday was launched in 2010 by American Express, which estimates that $14.3 billion was spent at small independent businesses last year during the event. In 2012, 73.9 million people shopped at small businesses on Small Business Saturday.
