Free FAFSA workshop to be held Jan. 2 at UPIKE

For graduating high school seniors and parents

PIKEVILLE, Ky. (Dec. 22, 2015) — The University of Pikeville and College Goal Kentucky will present free FAFSA completion workshops for graduating seniors and their parents from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m on Jan. 2 in the UPIKE Administration Building.

upike“It is important for students to file their 2016-2017 FAFSA as soon as possible to insure they will receive state grants if eligible,” said Judy Bradley, director of student financial services at UPIKE. “There are also federal programs in which funding depletes very early in the year. This early application can be filed as an estimate by using the will file option in addressing the income sections.”

Students are encouraged to attend College Goal Kentucky with a parent or guardian. Both should bring completed 2015 IRS 1040 tax returns and any other 2015 income and benefit information. If families have not completed their taxes, they are encouraged to bring their 2014 IRS 1040 tax forms and last paycheck stubs from 2015 so that financial aid professionals will be able to demonstrate how to use estimated information to submit the FAFSA and how to update information once taxes are completed.

New and returning students are encouraged to prepare for the 2016-2017 academic year by filing the 2016-2017 FAFSA as soon as possible.

College Goal Kentucky is sponsored by the Kentucky Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (KASFAA). It is funded by USA Funds, KHEAA and KHESLC and KnowHow2GoKY.org.
