Former Gov. Beshear leading group to stave off Gov. Bevin’s healthcare policies

Lexington, Ky. – Former Kentucky Governor Steve Beshear is leading a new health care advocacy group aimed at sustaining the efforts he made in expanding health insurance coverage for people in Kentucky.

The group, Save Kentucky Health, wants to persuade current Governor Matt Bevin from dismantling the state’s health insurance exchange, kynect. Fulfilling a campaign promise, Gov. Bevin has informed federal health officials of his plans to transition kynect members to the federal exchange.

Beshear left office in December after serving two terms.

“Despite insuring half a million Kentuckians for the first time, partisan politics threatens to reverse Kentucky’s gains by dismantling the state’s model health exchange,” the group’s website says.
