Versailles, Ky. – Kentucky Community and Technical College System (KCTCS) President Jay K. Box has been appointed to a new national community college board, Reclaiming America’s Middle Class (RAMC). The board is a federal policy advocacy group for community colleges, specifically community colleges within state systems or large districts.

RAMC’s mission is to rebuild America’s middle class by enhancing student access and success and by promoting on the national level the vital role community colleges play in serving Americans – whether right out of high school or later in their careers.

“RAMC has several priorities, but one key issue we’re advocating is the expansion of Pell Grants for summer classes,” Box said. “This is crucial to expanding access and completion for community college students.

“Community colleges are not well understood by policy makers and others, so it’s important that we show the value of our colleges. Community colleges are the key to building a stronger workforce and that means a stronger middle class.”

RAMC is a 501(c)(6) member supported coalition composed of state-wide community college systems, community college districts, individual institutions and their affiliates.  For more information go to http://www.supportramc.org/
