Gov. Bevin appoints magistrate for 2nd District in Martin County

Special election will be held in November

FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 11, 2016) — Gov. Matt Bevin today appointed Kenney McCoy, Jr. of Inez as magistrate for the 2nd District of Martin County. McCoy replaces Gary Hunt, who passed away in February.

“I am honored to be appointed to serve the citizens of Martin Co., and I will work hard for them on the Fiscal Court,” said McCoy.

McCoy, a Republican, has been an automotive sales manager for 26 years. He is a graduate of Sheldon Clark High School and attended Morehead State University.

McCoy, and his wife, Jennifer, have two sons.

McCoy will serve until a special election is held in the November general ballot for the unexpired portion of Hunt’s term, which expires on December 31, 2018.
