Traffic shifting to new roadway on I-64 west in downtown Louisville this weekend

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Apr. 29, 2016) – Two traffic shifts are expected on I-64 West this weekend as crews with Walsh Construction continue to make progress on the Downtown Crossing portion of the Ohio River Bridges Project.

Drivers on I-64 West are moving onto new roadway approaching the I-65 split and after the I-65 split, near Witherspoon Street. Drivers will notice only a slight shift in their normal routes.

Traffic is expected to shift to its new position by 5 a.m. on Monday, May 2.

Weekend Closures
Weekend lane closures on I-64 West and overnight ramp closures will be in place to allow crews to complete necessary work and move drivers to the new roadway.

Closure scheduled for Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1
• Two lanes of I-64 West from Story Avenue to River Road
The two lanes of I-64 West are scheduled to close around 9 p.m. on Saturday and reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, May 2.

Overnight closure scheduled for Saturday, April 30 and Sunday, May 1
• Ramp from I-71 South to I-64 West
The ramp is scheduled to close around 9 p.m. on Saturday and reopen by 8 a.m. on Sunday. It’s scheduled to close again around 9 p.m. on Sunday and reopen by 5 a.m. on Monday, May 2.
