24 apprentices added to Advanced Manufacturing Technician program at Gateway

Will begin classes this fall

(May 4, 2016) — Gateway Community and Technical College and the Northern Kentucky Chapter of the Kentucky Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education (KYFAME) welcomed 24 new apprentices to the Advanced Manufacturing Technician (ATM) program at a signing event hosted on Gateway’s Boone Campus.

Students will complete an innovative curriculum that incorporates skill training and general education courses related to the region and industry. In this program, they learn hard and soft skills that make them desirable to employers and successful in their fields.

Tuition, books and fees are covered by the sponsoring company. Apprentices are also paid at least $12/hour for part-time hours worked and receive on the job training and mentoring.

Student begin classes in the fall 2016. This is the second cohort to go through the program. The first began fall 2015.
