Gateway professor to get lifetime achievement award from national organization

FLORENCE, Ky. (Aug. 23, 2016) — Dr. Michelle Deeley Wilhite, Gateway Community and Technical College communications professor, has been named the 2016 Michael and Suzanne Osborn Community College Outstanding Educator by the National Communication Association (NCA). The award recognizes a lifetime of service, teaching and advancement in the community college.

Deeley Wilhite will receive the award at the NCA Annual Convention in Philadelphia on Nov. 12. Each year, NCA honors the best of the best in the communication field, presenting awards for outstanding scholarship, teaching and professional service at their national conference.

Deeley Wilhite has been at Gateway since 2000 and served as the faculty representative on the Gateway Board of Directors for six years. She teaches basic public speaking and interpersonal communication courses, both online and face to face.
