Wildcats ranked fourth in USA Today Coaches Poll

Louisville ranked 14th

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 20, 2016) — The University of Kentucky basketball team is ranked No. 4 in the first USA Today Coaches Poll, while Louisville is ranked No. 14.

Duke is No. 1, followed by Kansas and defending national champion Villanova. Duke received 27 first-place votes and 792 overall, Kansas received 1 first-place vote and 721 overall, Villanova received 1 first-place vote and 700 overall and Kentucky received 2 first-place votes and 695 overall. Oregon, which also received a first-place vote, was ranked No. 5 with 620 votes. Louisville received 367 votes.

UK opens the season at 7 p.m. at home on Nov. 11 against Stephen F. Austin. Louisville opens the season at 4 p.m. at home on Nov. 11 against Evansville. UK and UofL meet on Dec. 21 in Louisville.
