‘Hike to the Moon’ at Barren River on June 23

LUCAS, Ky. (June 12, 2012) — Barren River Lake State Resort Park invites you to attend an astronomy program provided by the Louisville Astronomical Society on Saturday, June 23.

Come out and make “Out of this World” tie-dye shirts at 2 p.m. Listen to songs of the stars at 5 p.m. while you enjoy dinner in the Driftwood Restaurant. Learn a little more about astronomy at the Literature and Lecture session at 6:30 p.m., and finally “Hike to the Moon” without leaving the ground. There is a fee for the tie-dye shirts.

The Louisville Astronomical Society will set up telescopes to see where Apollo astronauts landed on the moon and other interesting highlights. For more information, contact Jamie Avery at [email protected] or 1-800-325-0057.

The park is surrounded by rolling, tree-covered hills, on the edge of a beautiful 10,000-acre lake. The park has 51 lodge rooms, 22 cottages and 99 campsites.

The resort is located 44 miles southeast of Bowling Green. Take Interstate 65 to the Cumberland Parkway east, to US 31E south.
