Military Times names 6 Ky. schools on Best for Vets: Colleges 2017

WKU ranked 14th

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 1, 2016) — Military Times has named six Kentucky colleges to its list of Best for Vets: Colleges 2017.

9k=Among four-year schools Western Kentucky University was ranked 14th, Eastern Kentucky University was ranked 17th, University of Kentucky 22nd, Northern Kentucky University 47th and the University of Louisville 113th. Among two-year schools Hopkinsville Community College was ranked 11th.

WKU has 537 veterans, according to Military Times. EKU has 1,004, UK 583, NKU 233, UofL 932 and HCC 871.

To be considered for the list colleges has to fill out a 150 question survey about their operations involving current and former service members and their families.

Institutions were evaluated in five categories: university culture, academic outcomes/quality, student support, academic policies and cost and financial aid. While the value of each section was comparable, university culture and academic outcomes/quality were worth the most in the survey and cost and financial aid was worth the least.
