Executive director named for Kentucky Arts Council

Approved today by the Kentucky Arts Council Board

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Dec. 5, 2016) — Lydia Bailey Brown has been named executive director of the Kentucky Arts Council. She was approved today by the Kentucky Arts Council Board.

Bailey Brown previously served as the director of education at the Yorktown Arts Foundation in Yorktown, Va.. She also was executive director of the Cultural Alliance of Hampton Roads, sales and marketing executive at Design Master Associates, and director of business development at the Conference Board, a global economic think tank based in New York City.

“We believe that Lydia Bailey Brown’s unique background in business development, arts education and cultural destination consulting will be an asset to this important state agency as it continues to promote the arts and Kentucky artisans,” said Don Parkinson, Secretary of the Cabinet of Tourism, Arts and Heritage, which oversees the state arts agency. “We are optimistic about the arts council’s future.”
