LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 9, 2016) — Billy F. Van Pelt, II has been named director of development for the Southeast and Midwest regions of American Farmland Trust.

Van Pelt is the founding CEO of Woodford Forward and will remain a member of its board of directors. Since being founded in 2014, Woodford Forward has worked with government officials and the community to provide land use advocacy for innovative development and redevelopment in urban areas; adequate infrastructure for citizens and businesses; and the agricultural use of productive farmland throughout Woodford County.

Woodford Forward has supported several infill development projects; worked to stop the proposed Northwest Versailles Bypass from being built through farmland outside of the Versailles Urban Service Boundary, secured over 830 supporters; established a charitable foundation; and sponsored numerous educational and research efforts in Woodford County.
