University of Louisville board names interim president, effective Jan. 30

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The University of Louisville Board of Trustees today tackled a jam-packed agenda Saturday that included appointments to several key leadership positions. Actions taken by the board included:

· Electing David Grissom as chairman pro tem;

· Electing John Schnatter as vice chairman pro tem; Brian Cromer as secretary pro tem; Diane Medley as treasurer pro tem; Nitin Sahney as at-large member to the executive committee; and Dr. Ronald Wright as liaison to the University Medical Corporation Board of Directors.

· Dr. Gregory Postel, who has been serving as interim executive vice president of health affairs, was named UofL’s interim president, effective Jan. 30.

· Trustees Grissom, Schnatter, Sahney and Medley were appointed directors of the University of Louisville Foundation in addition to their roles as trustees. The board of trustees made a recommendation to the foundation board that Medley serve as chairperson of the foundation. All of the pro tem appointments will remain in effect until the board’s annual meeting later this year.

The Jan. 21 assembly was the first meeting for board members appointed by Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin on Jan. 17. A date has not been set for the next meeting, but the board agreed that it needs to meet monthly to address pressing business facing the university.
