Kathy Ireland to headline women’s business conference in Louisville

Kathy Ireland will headline the NAWBO conference Oct. 4-5 in Louisville.

WASHINGTON, D.C. (June 19, 2012) — Kathy Ireland, chief designer and CEO of Kathy Ireland Worldwide, will serve as the keynote speaker of their Women’s Business Conference (WBC) 2012, the National Association of Women Business Owners (NAWBO) announced Monday.

The conference, Oct. 4-5 in Louisville, also will include other high-profile speakers and attendees from a variety of industries and sectors, including fashion, government and the media.

“We are pleased to announce that Kathy Ireland will deliver the keynote remarks at our 2012 WBC in Louisville,” said Diane Tomb, NAWBO president and CEO. “From supermodel to supermogul, Ms. Ireland’s success story will inspire NAWBO members to innovate, advocate and accelerate their own careers, businesses, communities and lives.”

The theme of the 2012 WBC is Start Something. Events will center around the ways that women business owners innovate, advocate and accelerate their businesses and impact their communities.

Kathy Ireland Worldwide grosses over $1.9 billion in sales, according to a Forbes Magazine February 2012 cover story. Ireland will share her story about how she built her business empire, the most important lessons she learned along the way, what things have been critical to her growth, what inspires and motivates her to reach higher, and the delicate balance faced by women in managing family responsibilities, career and boundaries.

Additional speakers include Terri McCullough, CEO of the Tory Burch Foundation; Dina Powell, president of the Goldman Sachs Foundation; Jim Horan, president and CEO of The One Page Business Plan Company; and Susan Davis, chair of Vital Voices and recipient of the Global Empowerment Award at the Asian Women of Achievement Awards.
