NEW YORK (June 19, 2012) – Two Kentucky companies were honored Monday night at The 10th Annual American Business Awards, which were presented at a gala ceremony in New York City at the Marriott Marquis Hotel.

The Stevie Awards Winners were honored at the first of two gala award ceremonies taking place this year.

Big Ass Fan Company of Lexington was named “Company of the Year” in the manufacturing category. Big Ass Fans is the leading manufacturer of huge ceiling fans for large industrial, agricultural, commercial and residential settings. The fans range in size from 6 to 24 feet in diameter, using low horsepower motors to generate energy-efficient air movement for large spaces. More than 50,000 Big Ass Fans are installed worldwide in applications such as manufacturing plants, distribution centers, horse arenas, dairy barns, stadiums, art galleries, restaurants, health clubs, zoos and homes, according to a press release from the American Business Awards.

Lexington, Ky.-based Fazoli’s Italian Restaurants won “Human Resources Department of the Year.” Fazoli’s is a leading, next generation QSR franchise. With a menu of freshly prepared Italian entrees, sandwiches and salads, a new service-style featuring table service and a contemporary new restaurant design, Fazoli’s is well positioned for growth and is already America’s largest Italian quick-service chain with more than 220 restaurants, according to a press release from the American Business Awards.

For the first time, The American Business Awards are being presented at two awards ceremonies. Monday night’s ceremony honored winners in categories such as customer service, human resources, corporate communications, live events, publications and selected categories for company/organization, management and marketing. Winners in all new product and technology-related categories will be announced at a Sept. 17 event in San Francisco.

The American Business Awards honors an all-inclusive spectrum of American business people and organizations — from non-profits, emerging start-ups, major public companies and government agencies, to corner-office executives, corporate communicators, support staff and customer service teams.

More than 3,000 entries were submitted to The 2012 American Business Awards and more than 270 executives nationwide participated in judging to determine this year’s Gold, Silver and Bronze Stevie Award winners.
