Bilingual consultant joins Bluegrass Small Business Development Center

Fausto Sarmiento has joined the Bluegrass Small Business Development Center (SBDC) as aenior management consultant.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 25, 2012) — Fausto Sarmiento recently joined the Bluegrass Small Business Development Center (SBDC) as aenior management consultant. Prior to joining the Bluegrass SBDC, Sarmiento served as branch sales manager at First American Bank & Trust Company in Athens, Ga., where he provided banking solutions through a consultative business-to-business sales program that incorporated commercial and retail loan production and business development.

Fluent in Spanish and English, Sarmiento will help the Bluegrass SBDC expand services to the area’s Hispanic population.

“We are excited to have Fausto joining our team,” said Shirie Hawkins, Bluegrass SBDC Center director. “His experience in the banking and consulting industry coupled with his fluency in Spanish will be a true asset to the program.”

Sarmiento holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Georgia and a Master’s in diplomacy and international commerce from the Patterson School at the University of Kentucky. In 2008, he was selected as a Top 40 Under 40 Business Leader and received the Hispanic Contractors Association of Georgia’s Residential Banker of the Year Award. In 2005, he received First American Bank and Trust’s Quality Service Award.

Sarmiento will be based in the Bluegrass Small Business Development Center’s Lexington office, located at 330 East Main Street, Suite 201.
