Kentucky Crafted, Derby Festival among top April events in the Southeast

Recognized by Southeast Tourism Society

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 19, 2017) — Southeast Tourism Society has named Kentucky Crafted: The Market and the Kentucky Derby Festival among its Top 20 Events in the Southeast for April 2017.

Travel industry experts select 20 events per month. Events must be at least three years old and have attendance of at least 1,000.

Kentucky Crafted, produced each spring by the Kentucky Arts Council, is Friday through Sunday at the Lexington Convention Center. It is open to the public from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday.

The Market is the arts council’s signature event featuring the highest quality art, craft, literature, music and food found in the state. Nearly 200 Kentucky Crafted and select out-of-state artists, musicians and artisanal food producers make their finest work available to wholesale buyers and the general public during the three-day event.

The Kentucky Derby Festival is from April 20 to May 5, leading up to the Kentucky Derby on May 6.

The Kentucky Derby Festival has selected the Muhammad Ali Center for its annual Fifth Third Bank Silver Horseshoe Award, which goes to an individual or organization for their outstanding service to the community. The award will be presented at the 61st annual They’re Off! Luncheon on Friday in the Grand Ballroom of the Galt House Hotel. Along with the award, the Kentucky Derby Festival Foundation—the Derby Festival’s charitable arm—will also present a $5,000 check to the Muhammad Ali Center.
