Dallas mayor to be guest speaker

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (May 24, 2017) — Registration is open for the 2017 Leadership Louisville Luncheon scheduled for Aug. 22 at the Galt House Hotel. Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings will be the guest speaker.

The annual event will convene the region’s most influential leaders in business, government, nonprofits and civic engagement around the theme with the goal to look at the commonalities between Louisville and Dallas, and what we can learn to create a more prosperous future in the Louisville region.

From an entry-level position in advertising to later becoming CEO of Pizza Hut, Rawlings had four decades of success in the private sector.  Before running for mayor in 2011, he was actively involved in public service, serving as chair of the Dallas Convention & Visitors Bureau, the city’s Homeless Czar and Park Board President. During Rawlings’ time in office, Dallas has experienced impressive economic growth with significant drops in unemployment and growth in the city’s property tax base.

Under his leadership, Dallas is positioned as the next great American metropolis thanks to its economic and demographic success. The Dallas-Fort Worth area is one of the fastest-growing metros in the nation and is also at the top of the list for new housing. It consistently ranks as one of the premier destinations for corporate relocations and facilities growth. The city is also home to some of the biggest brands: AT&T, Southwest Air, Texas Instruments, Dean Foods, etc.

Its citizens rank quality of life high compared to other cities, and innovative investments in infrastructure and amenities are designed to continue this trend. Along with Louisville, Dallas is making strides in becoming more resilient to the physical, social and economic challenges that are a growing part of the 21st century.
