The Nest Child Care Center earns highest quality rating

LEXINGTON (July 13, 2017) — The Nest – Center for Women, Children and Families Child Care Center has earned a 5-STAR rating, the highest rating obtainable, under the new Kentucky All STARS Tiered Quality Rating and Improvement System.

Receiving the highest rating requires meeting standards of excellence in: classroom and instructional quality, family and community engagement, staff qualifications, leadership practice and professional learning.

The Nest Child Care Program provides free long-term, temporary, and emergency child care for children ages birth through 5 years old for parents who are financially unable to secure child care or have no other support system for emergency care. “Reaching this highest STAR rating is a great accomplishment and endorses the high-quality child care that we provide for the community” said Jenny Norman, Director of The Nest Child Care Center. This reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff and their efforts to continually improve the quality of early childhood education provided by The Nest Child Care Program,” said Jenny.

Kentucky All STARS is Kentucky’s expanded Five Star quality rating system serving all child care centers, Heads Start and public preschool that receive public funding. All STARS recognizes programs that have made a commitment to continuous quality improvement.

“This is an awesome way to start our new fiscal year, and to continue to celebrate our 40th Anniversary at The Nest,” said Jeffrey White, Executive Director. “Both our employees and the community benefit from the Child Care Center’s quality efforts.”
