Students elected to serve on KCTCS board

VERSAILLES, Ky. (Aug. 14, 2017) – Two students were elected by their Student Government Association (SGA) peers to serve on the Kentucky Community and Technical College System’s (KCTCS) Board of Regents and to serve as student body co-presidents.

Gavin Posey of West Kentucky Community and Technical College (WKCTC) and Ric Smith of Gateway Community and Technical College (GCTC) will serve one-year terms on the board and as student body co-presidents. Their terms begin immediately and continue through August 2018.

Posey lives in Paducah and is pursuing an associate of science and an associate of arts degree at WKCTC. He was elected as the college’s 2017-18 SGA president. He is vice president of Phi Theta Kappa Iota Eta Chapter, a Student Ambassador and graduate of the Paducah Youth L.E.A.D. program.

Smith lives in Latonia and is pursuing an associate of applied science at GCTC. He was elected as the college’s 2017-18 SGA president. He is a member of The Society for Collegiate Leadership & Achievement, Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society and the National Technical Honor Society. He is a peer tutor and was awarded the Outstanding Student Tutor of the Year for 2016-17.
