Gov. Bevin appoints circuit judge for the 2nd Judicial Circuit, Division 2

FRANKFORT, Ky. (Aug. 16, 2017) – Gov. Matt Bevin today appointed Tony Kitchen, of Paducah, as Circuit Judge for the 2nd Judicial Circuit, Division 2.

After earning a Bachelor of Science degree from the United States Naval Academy, Kitchen graduated from the University of Kentucky College of Law. He was admitted to the practice of law in the commonwealth, as well as the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Kentucky.

Kitchen served nine years as a naval officer, eight years as a felony prosecutor and over 10 years as a district judge in McCracken County. During his time on the district court bench, he presided over 70,000 cases.

“I want to thank Gov. Bevin for selecting me to serve as circuit judge,” said Kitchen. “It is an honor to serve the people of McCracken County, and I look forward to the opportunity to do so in my new role.”

Judge Kitchen shall serve until the position is filled in accordance with the results of the November 2018 midterm election, pursuant to the provisions of Section 152 of the Kentucky Constitution.
