Inaugural Taste of Beaumont festival will be Oct. 1

DIA8HgKVYAAXmt0LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 12, 2017) – Kick off fall with the first-ever Taste of Beaumont festival, scheduled for 2-7 p.m., Sunday, Oct. 1, at Moondance Amphitheater.

This inaugural festival will include local food and retail vendors, craft beer and cocktails, live music, biking demonstrations, as well as activities for the kids. Parking and admission are free for this family-friendly event.

“This idea came from my constituents through an On the Table discussion earlier this year,” said Councilmember Amanda Mays Bledsoe, who represents the 10th District, which includes the Beaumont area. On the Table was a series of community-wide conversations about what makes Lexington great, and what can be done to make it even better. “Neighbors wanted an event to provide an avenue for local businesses to come together with the strong neighborhood support and celebrate the uniqueness this corridor has to offer.”

Street fairs have become really popular in Lexington, said Amber Luallen, the City’s cultural arts program administrator, part of Lexington Parks & Recreation. “This event will bring people together to enjoy an afternoon of great food, activities and music,” she said. “It’s also an opportunity to showcase food and vendors from southwest Lexington.”

Bledsoe said now is an important time to showcase Lexington companies that have located here in the Harrodsburg corridor. “In the past few years, the Lexington south west neighborhoods and business districts have undergone significant improvements with new businesses, new global headquarters, infrastructure and community involvement,” Bledsoe said.

Taste of Beaumont is sponsored by the Moondance Foundation, the 10th District Council Office and Lexington Parks & Recreation.
