prnewswire2-a.akamaihd-239x300Strigformes LLC, a subsidiary of Stoli Group, received preliminary approval from the Kentucky Economic Development Finance Authority  for a $149,750,000 distillery in Bardstown.

Stoli Group, the parent of Stolichnaya Vodka, is an independent company headquartered in Luxembourg with production facilities in the U.S., Mexico, Argentina, Latvia and Spain. The group’s mission is to build a portfolio of select premium drink brands by controlling and perfecting every stage of the process, from cultivation to distribution.

Stoli Group announced in January that it would take over the national distribution, sales and marketing and global rollout for the Kentucky Owl brand.

Patrick Piana, president of Stoli Group USA, said in January: “Kentucky Owl is a great next step for our portfolio of premium and luxury brands. Bourbons have been experiencing impressive growth recently and we see a strong opportunity in the super-premium sub-category, in particular.”

Stoli’s subsidiary, Strigformes, is considering property in Bardstown to establish a distillery, rickhouses, visitor’s center and other related facilities for the production of bourbon.

Stoli plans to build a new facility, with an investment of $2.75 million for land, $115.6 million for buildings and improvements, $26.4 million for equipment, and $5 million for other start-up costs.

Total tax incentives approved are $2,000,000 for a project that will create 77 jobs at an average salary of $25 per hour, with a projected job target of 10 years.
