| EMPLOYMENT - June '98 '98 Job Market Posts Healthy Gains
This year's college graduates find
themselves in the enviable position of entering the job market at a time when the nation's
strong economy is producing an abundance of opportunity. In fact, statistics from the
JOBTRAK Index, which monitors job postings at more than 750 college and university career
centers across the nation, reflect almost a 32 percent increase in job openings posted in
April 1998 as compared to openings posted at the same time last year.
Of the 24 categories listed by JOBTRAK,
only five reflected a slowdown in growth; the remainder report exceedingly healthy
increases of two- to three-digit percentage points.
