Berea College Board of Trustees elects 3 new members

BEREA, Ky. (May 15, 2018) — ­­­Diane Artist Wallace, Miriam (Mim) R. Pride and Ken Koh have been elected to the Berea College Board of Trustees.

Wallace is an independent contract editor for Kinesis-Cem, a market research company with which she has worked since 2007. Much of her career has been associated with the Social Security Administration (SSA). She also was district manager for the SSA in Montana from 2001-2007. Previously, Wallace served as program manager for programmatic training at the SSA’s Office of Training headquarters in Maryland, a production coordinator for the SSA’s Distance Learning Training Studio in Georgia, a systems coordinator for SSA in Alabama, and various technical and claims representative positions for the SSA in Kentucky and Alabama.

A 1980 Berea College alumna, Wallace earned her bachelor of science in business administration. In addition to her professional career, Wallace actively has served her alma mater as an executive committee member of the College’s Second Century Club and a member of the Alumni Executive Council. She also serves as a board member for Berea Home Village.

Pride is president emeritus of Blackburn College, for which she was president for 22 years. Prior to her presidency at Blackburn, she served the college in various positions in campus life, administration and finance. Most recently, Pride consulted on work and service learning for the College of Wooster (Ohio) and was interim executive director of the Pine Mountain Settlement School. Earlier in her career, she was employed by Berea College, where she held positions in campus activities, residential life and accounting for the college bookstore. She also was manager of Boone Tavern Hotel.

A graduate of the Berea College Foundation School, Pride earned her bachelor of arts degree in English and secondary education from The College of Wooster and her MBA from the University of Kentucky.

A resident of Berea, Ky., Pride is involved in various local community groups. She is a member and the current chair of the Berea Human Rights Commission. She serves as a panel member of the Madison County Panel of the Kentucky Foster Care Review Board and volunteers at a local school. She continues to serve as a board member for Pine Mountain Settlement School. Other regional and national civic activities include serving on the boards of the College Insurance Company’s Executive Committee, the Educational and Institutional Insurance Administrators, Inc., the Federation of Independent Illinois Colleges and Universities, the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, and the NCAA – Division III President’s Council.

Koh is the Group CEO of Yang Kee Logistics Pte Ltd, which is headquartered in Singapore. He is a graduate from Nanyang Technological University with a degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering. Prior to joining Yang Kee, he was involved in business development in Hewlett Packard.

Koh directs the overall management, strategic planning, business development and overseas expansion of the company’s networks, as well as its local and global subsidiaries. He also chairs the Investment Committee of the Executive Committee that reviews potential merger and acquisitions and investment opportunities.

Koh serves as a council member of Singapore Logistics Association, a trade association that collaborates with logistics companies and professionals, institutions and academia, industry organizations and partners, government agencies as well as international organizations and businesses. As a representative of the Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) community, Koh has been appointed to be a member of the Pro Enterprise Panel, a public-private partnership set up in 2000 to help businesses overcome rules and regulations by Ministry of Trade and Industry Singapore (MTI), as well as a committee member of the Singapore Business Federation-led SME Committee (SMEC) for Internationalization.
