City of Lexington seeks contractors for housing rehabilitation programs

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 26, 2018) – The city of Lexington is seeking general contractors to participate in housing rehabilitation programs for homeowners who need assistance in bringing their houses up to code or making other needed improvements.

LFUCG’s Housing Rehabilitation and Emergency Repair programs provide funds and technical assistance so that qualified homeowners can hire contractors to repair their homes.  Contractors are selected through a bidding process completed by the homeowner, with assistance from the Grants and Special Programs office.

In order to be eligible to bid on rehabilitation program projects, contractors must first submit a form and qualifying information to the Grants and Special Programs office. A complete list of contractor requirements and qualifying information is available at lexingtonky.gov/contractors.

Available work through these programs can range from simple repair or replacement of broken equipment to major rehab of owner-occupied housing units.  Each project can range anywhere from $2,000 to $30,000.

Companies of all sizes are encouraged to participate. The following types of contractors are needed:

  • General residential remodeling contractors
  • HVAC contractors
  • Plumbing contractors
  • Electrical contractors
  • EPA certified lead-based paint renovators
  • EPA certified lead-based paint abatement contractors
