Lexington, Ky.-based Amteck makes 4th acquisition in 9 months

Company adds South Carolina-based Communication Management Inc.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 12, 2018) — Amteck, LLC, a national provider of design/build electrical contracting services targeting a diverse mix of greenfield- and expansion-related non-residential construction projects, announced today the acquisition of Communication Management Inc.

CMI is a South Carolina-based designer and installer of high-performance, structured cabling networks, and turn-key hardware solutions for non-residential clients. Amteck has worked closely with CMI on several projects in recent years, CMI currently has 75 full-time employees – all who will remain.

This is the fourth company that Amteck has acquired in the past nine months. Amteck’s CEO Daren Turner said, “We look for unique opportunities – that ultimately will expand Amteck’s capabilities as a leading design/build electrical contractor in the Southeast region of the U.S.

“CMI is a perfect example of an exceptional business that brings incredible opportunity to expand our technologies service offerings. The CMI team has the right expertise, in an expanding market, with a great group of talented people.”

CMI was established in 1986 initially repairing telephone systems and small network cabling projects for local businesses in Columbia, S.C. Since then, CMI has grown to four office locations throughout the state, now servicing large educational and government buildings, manufacturing, healthcare, and corporate facilities — providing turnkey solutions for all the facility’s communication systems.

“We are thrilled to join the Amteck family,” former owner & CEO of CMI Jon Buring said. “Their family atmosphere, down-to-earth approach, passion for quality work and customers satisfaction matches CMI’s culture. With these important principles, we all stand to prosper.”

Buring started his career in the United States Navy becoming an interior communications electrician. After working over 10 years in the industry, he joined CMI in 1990 as the installation department manager. Buring’s role has transitioned through the years and he currently serves as CEO responsible for the overall direction of CMI.

Acquisitions have added more than 150 employees to Amteck companies
Amteck is no stranger to finding talent in different trades and markets. Earlier this year, Amteck added Southeastern Automatic Sprinkler, a turnkey fire solutions company in Mississippi and in May 2017 acquired Proformance Group Incorporated a multi-industry multi-process electrical automation expertise business with over 40 years of experience working in the electrical instrumentation design and construction field. Shortly following the acquisition of PGI, Amteck gained Consolidated Electrical Contractors & Engineers Inc., a South Carolina design/build and electrical construction company with 30 years of experience. With each addition, Amteck gains a stronger force in the growing market of the Southeast.
