LifePoint Health names Haugh market president of Central Kentucky

William Haugh

GEORGETOWN, Ky. — LifePoint Health has announced that William Haugh, chief executive officer of Georgetown Community Hospital (GCH), has been promoted to market president of Central Kentucky, effective Sept. 24.

In this newly created leadership role, Haugh will continue to serve as CEO of GCH in Georgetown while also assuming operational oversight of Bluegrass Community Hospital in Versailles, Bourbon Community Hospital in Paris and Clark Regional Medical Center in Winchester.

Local hospital CEOs Tommy Haggard from Bluegrass, Matt Smith from Bourbon and interim CEO Barbara Kinder from Clark Regional will continue serving in their respective CEO roles, managing daily operations and reporting to Haugh on regional issues and opportunities as they arise.

“By coming together as a market, these four Kentucky hospitals will have the opportunity to work more closely as they carry out our mission of Making Communities Healthier and improve healthcare regionally,” said Scott Raplee, president of LifePoint’s Central Group, of which the hospitals are a part. “To maximize their opportunities, they need a dedicated leader who is focused on regional growth and collaboration. William is a proven healthcare operator with a passion for delivering the highest quality care. We are confident that he is the right person to leverage the strengths of all four facilities and work with the respective hospital leaders to ensure they can continue to serve the health needs of this region.”

The hospitals’ close proximity to one another provides many opportunities to partner for growth, enhance quality and safety, attract new physicians, provide new opportunities for staff and improve how the facilities serve patients each day.

An accomplished hospital leader, Haugh joined LifePoint Health in 2008 as chief operating officer (COO) of Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County (now Sovah Health-Martinsville) in Martinsville, Virginia. He then served as CEO of Logan Memorial Hospital in Russellville, Kentucky, for several years before being appointed CEO of Georgetown Community Hospital in 2012. Haugh was named LifePoint’s CEO of the Year in 2015, and he recently received the company’s 2017 Fleetwood Award for operational excellence.

“I am thrilled to have the opportunity to step into this new role and help ensure that people in our region continue to have access to the highest quality healthcare services close to home,” Haugh said. “By taking a regional view of healthcare and effectively leveraging the synergies of all four markets, I believe we can create a stronger and even more vibrant Central Kentucky for generations to come.”

Haugh earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Appalachian State University in Boone, North Carolina, and a Master of Health Administration degree from the Medical College of Virginia at Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia. He is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives (FACHE) and has earned the esteemed Certified Professional in Patient Safety (CPPS) credential through the National Patient Safety Foundation. Haugh will remain located in Georgetown.
