UK’s Good Samaritan resumes operations after chemical spill

LEXINGTON, Ky. — At approximately 5:30 a.m. Monday there was a small chemical spill in the inpatient pharmacy in the basement of UK HealthCare’s Good Samaritan Hospital. 

The Lexington Fire Department and its Hazardous Materials Unit responded, contained the spill and oversaw first phase of the cleanup. Nineteen people were treated including five who were decontaminated— none were patients.

The Fire Department released the hospital’s inpatient pharmacy to normal operations around 8:30 a.m.
