Gov. Bevin makes appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Gov. Matt Bevin has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

L. Wayne Cassady has been appointed as a member of the Water Transportation Advisory Board.

  • L. Wayne Cassady, of Louisville, is a civil engineer. He will represent members at-large and serve for a term expiring Sept. 30, 2022.

The Water Transportation Advisory Board is an advisory body to the executive and legislative branches of government on matters pertaining to water transportation. The Board promotes economic growth of the waterways and riverports, and establishes guidelines and protocol for riverport maintenance, improvements, grant approval, and all matters regarding Kentucky waterways and riverports.

Rebecca Lynn Hunger has been appointed as a member of the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Professional Art Therapists.

  • Rebecca Lynn Hunger, of Louisville, is an art therapist. She will represent the Kentucky Art Therapy Association and serve for a term expiring July 15, 2022.

The Kentucky Board of Licensure for Professional Art Therapists regulates the licensing and conduct of certified art therapists within the Commonwealth of Kentucky.

John Paul Vincent has been appointed as a member of the Consumers’ Advisory Council.

  • John Paul Vincent, of Dayton, is a realtor. He will serve for a term expiring Sept. 8, 2020.

The Consumers’ Advisory Council acts as an advisory to consumers on consumer affairs in Kentucky and prepares and publishes an annual report on the state of consumer affairs within the Commonwealth.

Dino Lucarelli and Jason Paul Smith have been appointed as members of the Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Commission.

  • Dino Lucarelli, of Villa Hills, is the founder of Lucarelli Tactical Group. He will represent members-at-large and serve for a term expiring May 16, 2021.
  • Jason Paul Smith, of Louisville, is an attorney. He has been appointed to serve as Vice Chairperson of the Commission.

The Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Commission oversees all professional boxing, wrestling and full contact competitive bouts and exhibitions held in Kentucky. The KBWC licenses contestants, officials and promoters, and is attached to the Public Protection Cabinet for administrative purposes.

Stacy J. Seale and Jean A. Deters have been appointed as members of the Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology.

  • Stacy J. Seale, of Lexington, is the Director of Therapists for Employment Solutions. She will represent certified psychologists and serve for a term expiring July 15, 2022; and
  • Dr. Jean A. Deters, of Walton, is a psychologist. She will represent licensed psychologists and serve for a term expiring May 19, 2019.

The Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology administers and enforces the statutory authority and monitors the needs of the consuming public. The Board examines and licenses all eligible candidates for entry into the profession of Psychology. It recommends appropriate changes in the law to assure fairness and equality.

Elizabeth J. Smith and Jamie Stickler have been appointed as members of the Education Professional Standards Board.

  • Elizabeth J. Smith, of Midway, is an ESL teacher. She will represent elementary teachers and serve for a term expiring June 30, 2019; and
  • Jamie Stickler, of Beattyville, is a school counselor. He will represent school counselors or psychologists and serve for a term expiring June 30, 2020.

The Education Professional Standards Board consists of 17 gubernatorial appointees. The Board establishes the standards and requirements for obtaining and maintaining a teaching certificate within the Commonwealth, and sets forth the guidelines and standards for the programs that prepare individuals for becoming teachers and professional school personnel.
